Description: For over 20 years VOR has been the only national organization to advocate for a full range of quality residential options and services. This choice includes home, community residences, congregate and large facilities. VOR opposes efforts that eliminate options for persons with mental retardation, medically fragile conditions and challenging behaviors. VOR advocates that the final determination of what is appropriate depends on the unique abilities and needs of the individual and desires of the family and guardians. VOR watches and acts when legal actions in any one state threaten residential choice, guardianship issues or raise other nationally s volunteer state coordinators and national Committees, and four dedicated full time staff members.
