Beginning Monday, December 6, we will be unveiling the first phase of a two-part redesign of our website. Because of software improvements, we have been able to implement the suggestions that our customers have given us about our current site.
The site has a different look, new organization and some new features. We have blogs on more pages along with staff photos, so you will be getting information “face to face” from the same staff members that you talk to in the Library.
The second phase of the redesign, which will include changes to the catalog, is coming this spring.

Thinking of getting an eReader this holiday? Here are some things you might like to know:
You can check out a Nook, Kindle or Sony Reader from the Library for two weeks to give them a test run.
You can come to the Library’s Welcome Desk to try them out and talk to staff members about the features of each. For questions about eReaders, call the Welcome Desk at 847-506-2640.
The Library has eBooks that you can download for free from My Media Mall on our website. The eBooks are compatible with most eReaders except the Kindle. Click here to learn more about which eReaders are compatible with My Media Mall.
In January you can drop by the Welcome Desk on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. to learn how to use your eReader to download the Library’s eBooks.

The holidays will be a little brighter this year for some Arlington Heights families thanks to the efforts of Ivy Hill Brownie Troop 40412. The 27 third-grade girls each donated three or more food pantry items to the Library’s Read and Feed Food Drive. The group also donated 17 new children’s books for the Holiday Book Drive with money that the girls had earned from cookie sales.
“In lieu of purchasing a fun, new patch for the girls, we decided to buy books for the book drive,” stated Troop co-leader Lori Ann Oyen. She and co-leader Jerilyn Lissau accompanied the girls to the Library to drop off the donations. The group then got a behind-the-scenes tour from Kids’ World staff member Lynne Priest.
We’d like to thank the girls and their leaders for so generously helping their neighbors this holiday season.
Both the Read and Feed Drive and the Holiday Book Drive continue at the Library until December 1. Donations can be dropped off in collection bins located by the Checkout Desk. We are collecting food pantry items and new children’s books for Wheeling Township and pet food and items for the Buddy Foundation.
