If you are looking for help in updating or putting together a resume, you can get it online. Connect with a certified online tutor for help with resume reviews, job search techniques, and interview preparation, every day from 3 to10 p.m. on our web site. You must be an A.H. cardholder to use this service from home. If you are not an A.H. cardholder, you may come to the Library and use our public computers or sign up at the Welcome Desk for remote access.

Open Gaming

Searching for Your European Ancestors

Steve Szabados, MBA, will share his research experiences of looking for the European records of his ancestors. Included in his presentation are sources that go beyond the normal civil and church archives. He has been researching his family’s genealogy for 5 years and has identified over 17,000 individuals in his family’s many branches. His research includes records from Poland, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. Register online or at the Reception Desk, 847-392-0100.

Choosing Safe Toys for Kids

Get Health Info Using Well-Connected

medical infoLooking for information about common diseases and wellness issues? Try Well-Connected, one of the Library’s databases which has in-depth reports discussing the latest treatments, causes, symptoms, tests, and preventative measures for about 100 health conditions. The reports are reviewed by a board of physicians from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

This database is available through our web site under “Research.”  Click on “Databases A-Z” and then select Well-Connected. You need to be an A.H. cardholder to use it outside of the Library.

An Evening With Author Mary Pat Kelly

Mary Pat Kelly will discuss her novel Galway Bay and the history of Irish Americans. The epic, about a family that left Ireland during the Great Famine to settle in Chicago, is the result of 35 years of research in Ireland and the United States.

Kelly is an award-winning writer/director of documentaries on Irish subjects. She’s been an associate producer on Good Morning America and Saturday Night Live, written books on Martin Scorsese, World War II, and Bosnia, and a novel based on her experiences as a former nun – Special Intentions. ABC/25 Foundation Auction Items on Display

Auction items for the upcoming gala benefitting ABC/25 Foundation and the Arlington Heights Council of PTAs scholarship fund are on display in Kids’ World. The items include a painting by Janet McDonnell and students from Thomas Middle School, a painting by Jennifer Schmidt from Patton Elementary School, a quilt by Renee  Miller from South Middle School and painted pots by Elisa Zapata from Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School.

They will auctioned off on Saturday, March 6, at the 5th Annual Scholarship and Grant Gala held in the Metropolis Ballroom.
